Robert graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Economics. He spent the next 7 years working for E.F. Hutton Life Insurance Company. Starting in the Actuarial Department, Robert learned the nuts and bolts of life insurance products and was the liaison between Actuarial and the Systems Department. After becoming familiar with testing methodologies, he began programming in Marketing Systems where he was responsible for developing PC based sales illustration systems. In 1991 Robert joined System Innovations where he continued to develop illustration systems, helping in the design and coding of a new Windows based system using object oriented Microsoft technologies (VB, C++, MFC).
After 5 years at System Innovations and attaining the position of Senior Programmer Analyst, Robert moved to Insurance Technologies as Manager of Technical Development. Hired to build a team of developers and analysts, he helped to design and implement the development environment and to document the associated standards and workflow procedures. He also designed and implemented a new product calculation component, utilizing Microsoft C++ and ATL COM. During the years working for these vendors, Robert gained valuable insight into the life insurance industry by working with companies such as Pacific Life, John Hancock and Security Life. In 1998 Robert founded InsurSoft to focus on the special needs of life insurance companies.
